Daily US Times: Democratic White House challenger Joe Biden addressed the nation shortly, but he has not declared victory while counting continues.
The former Vice PresidentJoe Biden says he will win this race “with a clear majority, with the nation behind us”.
He stops short of a final declaration of victory.
“We’ve gotten over 74 million votes, that’s more than any presidential ticket has ever gotten in the history of the United States of America,” the Democrat added.
“One of the things I’m especially proud of is how well we’ve done across America,” Biden continued, citing his lead in red states Georgia and Arizona.
He urged Americans to have patience. Echoing the message of calm and unity that he has been repeating in days since the election, Joe Biden also emphasized he plans to make the coronavirus crisis a top priority if he takes office.
His transition team is already at work to tackle the pandemic and other issues, Biden said. “We can’t save any of the lives that have been lost but we can save a lot of lives in the months ahead,” he said.
He said: “I know watching these vote tallies can be very slow.”
“It can be numbing” to watch. But those numbers represent voters and their voice should be heard, he added.
Biden addressed the nation in a time when he leads in the battleground states that are crucial to reaching the White House: Pennsylvania, Georgia, Nevada and Arizona.
President Donald Trump warned Joe Biden against declaring victory – a day after appearing to do so himself. Trump appeared publicly twice since the election day and claimed victory and baselessly accused for voter fraud without giving any evidence.
