B&M is no stranger to importing Australian treats to the UK. Shoppers have enjoyed sweets like the Perky Nana and Violet Crumble in recent months, and now another treat is appearing in stores.
The Dansway page on Facebook spotted the store’s new Cherry Ripe Berry Truffle bar. It costs £1 each, a major savings compared to other imported treats.
The packaging says it builds on the classic cherry centre by adding a blackcurrant flavour. These bars also add extra coconut flakes to the dark chocolate coating.
However, fans were convinced it could replace a classic treat that was discontinued in the 1990s. One wrote: “These remind me of a Cabana bar for some reason. I miss them so much!”
Another said: “Amazing chocolate bar. Not quite as nice as a Cabana was but close!” A third added: “These are the absolute best! They’re so similar to a Cabana.”
Cabana was a chocolate bar produced by Rowntree’s back in the 1980s but was taken off shop shelves in the early 1990s with no sign of a comeback. It mixed coconut, caramel, and cherries within a layer of milk chocolate, so it’s clear why fans may get some nostalgia from a Cherry Ripe.
Plenty of new fans just appreciated the bar for its great taste. Someone posted: “I need to get some of these! So lovely!” Another commented: “Had these in Australia and loved them so much. Glad I can get some here now!”
However, a few couldn’t unsee something after looking at the insides. One claimed: “Looks like raw meat! Ripe indeed!” Another added: “Ewww looks like raw meat inside a chocolate bar!” A third posted: “Looks like raw mince! I just couldn’t stomach it!”
