Brighton stabbings: Man killed as woman and boy rushed to hospital after home attack

A man has been killed, while a woman and child were rushed to hospital after an knife attack a home in Brighton.

A teenager has been arrested in connection with the incident after emergency services raced to a house at around 7.30am today, finding a 57-year-old man dead and a woman and boy injured.

It is not clear how old the injured boy is, but the arrested teenager is 19 years old.

Chief Superintendent Rachel Carr for Sussex Police said: “Following an emergency call to police, an immediate response was sent to Hartfield Avenue, where sadly, a man was found deceased, and a woman and child were found seriously injured.

“A suspect is in custody and a fast-moving investigation is underway to establish exactly what happened and why.

“This is a tragic incident and we understand it will cause shock and alarm among the local community, however there is not believed to be a wider threat to the public at this time.”
