Daily US Times: Singer Britney Spears has announced her engagement to Sam Asghari, her long-term boyfriend.
Spears posted a video of them showing off the ring on Instagram.
The singer is currently fighting a legal battle to end her 13-year conservatorship, which controls her finances and personal life.
She revealed that the terms of the arrangement were preventing her from marrying Sam Asghari or having more children.
In 2008, the conservatorship arrangement was imposed on her when concerns were raised over her mental health.
Mr Asghari, a 27-year-old actor and personal trainer, posted a separate photo of the couple’s engagement ring and the couple kissing.
Brandon Cohen, Mr Asghari’s manager confirmed news of the engagement to People magazine.
He said: “The couple made their long-standing relationship official today and are deeply touched by the support, dedication and love expressed to them.”
Spears and Asghari met on the set of a music video in 2016.
Mr Asghari was born in the Iranian capital Tehran but moved to Los Angeles at the age of 12.
Earlier this year, in an interview with Forbes, he described arriving in the United States without speaking any English: “It was definitely a culture shock, coming out here with a completely different language to speak.”
The 39-year-old Spears has been married twice before. She wed her Jason Alexander, a childhood friend of her’s, in 2004 in Las Vegas but the marriage was soon annulled.
She married dancer Kevin Federline later the same year, with whom she has two children. The couple divorced in 2007.
