Police have closed multiple roads in a UK town after a body was found in an embankment.

Photographs from the scene in the Greenmount area of Bury show a cordon in place in front of a number of emergency vehicles. A body has been found in an embankment nearby, according to reports.

Fire crews are also at the scene, along with police and paramedics. The alarm was raised earlier this evening before the body was discovered in the water, and emergency efforts are currently being focussed on an area near to the Holcombe sports and tennis club.. The Mirror have approached Greater Manchester Police for comment.

A Manchester Evening News reporter said from the scene: “The closure is about half a mile long and appears to be concentrated around Holcome Brook Sports and Tennis Club, where we understand a body has been found on an embankment”.
