Daily US Times, Nevada: Democratic White House hopeful Pete Buttigieg’s sexuality has become a campaign issue after radio host Rush Limbaugh questioned if voters would pick a man “kissing his husband on stage”.

The host said that the Democratic Party should realise America is still not ready to elect a gay man.

Fellow Democratic presidential candidates leapt to his defence, and President Donald Trump said he would vote for a gay man.

Despite a conservative radio host, Rush Limbaugh was awarded a top civilian honour by the president in his State Of The Union.

Mr. Rush’s radio show is nationally syndicated to millions of listeners, Mr Limbaugh on Wednesday imagined Demcorats’ deliberations over who to vote for.

On his show, he said ””They’re saying, ‘OK, how’s this going to look? Thirty-seven-year-old gay guy kissing his husband on stage, next to Mr Man, Donald Trump.'”

Buttigieg indirectly responded the comments without mentionating the radio show. On Thursday night, he said “I’m proud of my marriage. I’m proud of my husband.”

His campaighn declined to mkake any comment on the matter.

A Fox News journalist asked Trump wheather he would be open to voting for a gay candidate. In reply, Trump said: “I think so. I think there would be some that wouldn’t, and I wouldn’t be among that group, to be honest with you.

“I think that it doesn’t seem to be hurting Pete Buttigieg,” the president added.
