Daily US Times: Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort has been partially closed because of a coronavirus outbreak.

Several people familiar with the situation, including a club member confirmed the partial closure to the Associated Press (AP). The club member received a phone call about the closure on Friday.

According to Reuters, some workers had been quarantined “out of an abundance of caution,” and “a section of the club” had been closed for a short period of time.

One of Mar-a-Lago club receptionist has confirmed the news, saying the resort was closed until further notice, but declined to comment further.

The people spoke about the situation on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the issue by name.

The extent of the Covid outbreak, what portions of the resort were closed or how it was affecting the former president’s family were not immediately clear.

Former President Donald Trump moved to Mar-a-Lago after leaving the White House in January, and has spent the weeks since lying low, dining with friends, meeting with Republican party leaders, golfing and plotting his political future as he considers running again in 2024.

The representatives of Mr Trump did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Last fall, Trump was hospitalized with Covid-19 and has since been vaccinated against the virus. His wife, Melania Trump and son Barron Trump also tested positive.

Mr Trump’s resort was the site of his first known exposure more than a year ago. A senior Brazilian official tested positive for the coronavirus last year after spending time at the club, where he posed for a photo next to Trump and attended a family birthday party.
