Drake’s recent drone video, which initially grabbed a lot of attention, has been heavily criticised by fans.
The music mogul, currently on tour, was filmed on his balcony by a flying drone. At first, Drake appeared confused, then approached the drone before throwing a shoe at it. However, fans weren’t impressed and quickly tore apart the video, suggesting that there was no intruder and that Drake was likely orchestrating the footage himself.
Observing the video closely, fans pointed out that they could see the drone operator from the window of his balcony, implying that the person controlling the drone was someone Drake knows, not an intruder. One X (formerly Twitter) user wrote: “This is so staged, it’s insulting he thought we would believe this.”
Whilst annother added: “‘That’s staged, you can see the reflection of the drone pilot in the window when Drake launched the show.” A third penned: “‘This is a staged video af to promote Stake.. you can clearly see drone pilot sitting behind the corner. Drake deserves an Oscar for overacting.”
A fourth wrote: “I’m extremely concerned with the apparant tens of thousands of people who can’t tell that the Drake drone video is some kind of stunt.” A fifth noticing the reflection of the drone operator in the window penned: “‘Reflected in the window… this is getting sad. But we hear for it.”
This comes after Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s ongoing tension, which has sparked numerous rumours and public jabs. In 2024, the feud between Drake and Kendrick Lamar intensified, leading to a series of diss tracks. Kendrick appeared on Future and Metro Boomin’s single Like That, targeting Drake and J. Cole. This prompted Drake to release Push Ups and Taylor Made Freestyle.
Kendrick, who dropped the diss track Not Like Us targeting Drake, took home multiple awards at the 2025 Grammy Awards. He also performed the single during his halftime show at the Super Bowl earlier this month.
The rapper made history as the most-watched halftime act of all time when he took the stage during the Super Bowl between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs. Now, Drake has responded with a dig at the singer, fueling the ongoing tension between the two artists.
Kendrick’s performance sparked controversy online, with many fans speculating how Drake would respond. During the show, Kendrick took shots at his rival multiple times, even referencing their rivalry in his diss track and bringing his ex-girlfriend, Serena Williams, onto the stage.
In response, Drake has fought back, releasing a new track, Gimme a Hug, from his latest album, where he subtly addresses the ongoing feud with the Luther singer. Drake, 38, seemingly calls him a “small fish” like “Nemo” in his song.
