Daily US Times: A private jet crashed into an empty office building in the northern Italian city of Milan, killing all eight people on board.

The private plane, which was bound for Sardinia Island, crashed after taking off from Milan’s Linate airport.

The pilot was the 68-year-old Romanian billionaire Dan Petrescu. He died alongside his wife and their 30-year-old son, according to Italian media.

The private jet crash set the office block and several parked cars on the ground on fire. No-one on the ground was injured by the crash.

An investigation into the matter has been launched.

The single-engine Pilatus PC-12 was already on fire when it went down, according to some witnesses.

Local man Giuseppe told Reuters news agency.”I heard the sound of a plane above me as if the plane was shutting down its engine.”

He added: “Then I heard a very loud explosion, the windows of our house started to shake so I opened the window and saw a huge cloud of smoke rising.”

Petrescu, was one of Romania’s richest man and a property developer. Mr Petrescu, his wife and their 30-year-old son was on the plane. A child is also reported to be among those killed.
