Eagle eyed Emmerdale fans took to social media on Tuesday evening to highlight some blunders following the dramatic limo crash on an icy lake.
Amy (Natalie Ann Jamieson) was rescued from the water by Tracy (Amy Walsh) and then went into shock, while Kerry (Laura Norton) and Leyla (Roxy Shahidi) freed themselves from the limo as the ice cracked around them. By the end of the episode, the fate of Amy, Leyla, Liam and Noah was left in question as ambulances raced them to hospital, but despite the drama, viewers had a few complaints about the tense scenes set in the freezing cold.
“#Emmerdale come on. Ice so thin one can go through but then they can walk on it. It’s so cold the ice is thick enough to support a car but no cold breath from the actors as they speak. Cain lying on WET GRASS and no ice in the same village. Come on you are making Corrie appear real,” wrote one fan who spotted the inconsistencies in the drama.
Another commented: “Don’t see their breath seeing it’s supposed to be freezing cold,” while a third pointed out: “You saw ice cracking then limo sink then aerial views made it look like “lake” was frozen over. I get scenes aren’t shot in order but at least try…” And one fan asked: “Since when has there been big massive ice bergs and ponds in Yorkshire?”
A few fans also questioned why a limo rental company would not provide drivers and allow Charity and Caleb to be behind the wheel. “Why would a limo company offer the no driver package anyhow?!” wrote one viewer, while another joked: “Did the limo die too?” Another fan laughed: “Imagine explaining what happened to the Limo to an insurance company, they’d never believe it…”
Some fans were more impressed with the dramatic episode, however. “Emmerdale episode with the frozen lake giving Titanic vibes, no joke,” said one fan, and another wrote: “That’s the best couple of episodes ever in soapland it felt like watching a film they all were fantastic each part played.” A third simply wrote: “Flippin ‘eck Emmerdale,” and a fourth added: “Tonight’s episode of #emmerdale was a hard watch but brilliantly put together with that dramatic music – well done to all involved.”
Speaking about the stunt, Leyla actress Roxy Shahidi said: “Obviously, they’ve pulled out all the stops. “I’m guessing a hell of a lot of money must have been spent, as it is a really epic stunt. I think it really will go down in Emmerdale history without a doubt.”
“I think the thing that was most enjoyable for me was the camaraderie on set. It was such a fantastic, gorgeous group of girls that I was working with.” She described the set with high praise, saying: “It was just a really lovely atmosphere. So supported, so loving and we just had a fantastic time.”
