English football team in shocking brawl with OWN supporters after losing match

Minehead AFC have launched an investigation after players were involved in a shocking brawl with their OWN fans after conceding a late goal.

The non-league side took on Stockwood Green over the weekend, losing 2-1 late on. It was just the fourth league defeat of the season for the Somerset side.

But despite that, there were absolutely awful scenes at the full-time whistle. A video that has gone viral on social media shows players leaving the pitch in disappointment following the defeat.

They were carrying equipment back to the changing rooms when they were approached by a clutch of supporters. Choice words appeared to be exchanged between the two groups before a fight broke out.

Players and fans were involved in initial pushing, with punches then thrown. One star was left taking on five fans, while another rushed inside the changing rooms, still with corner flags in tow.

The player in question was still surrounded by fans as others poured into the shocking scene. He eventually managed to escape and also headed to the changing rooms, while those involved were held back by others. The door to the building was then closed to stop the furious group getting inside.

A man is heard shouting “you stay away. You stay away.” The Minehead goalkeeper then appeared and attempted to calm the tensions.

Meanwhile, the non-league club have confirmed that they have launched an investigation. A statement from Minehead read: “We are fully aware and disappointed by the incident that happened at the club yesterday afternoon.

“This is being investigated and the relevant authorities are involved. As this is an active investigation, no further comments will be made from us during this time.”

Avon and Somerset Police are also reportedly aware of the brawl but have so far refused to comment. Minehead currently sit sixth in the Uhlsport Division 1 after just four defeats from 20 games so far this term.

They will be back in action on Saturday February 22 with an away game against Wrington Redhill. A win could potentially see them reduce the gap to the top three to just two points. Minehead do not play another home game until their clash with Congresbury next month.

The club have twice reached the second round proper of the FA Cup, losing to Swansea and Portsmouth respectively.
