‘Entitled driver kept stealing my parking space – so I got revenge in the best way’

A woman has been praised for her revenge against a rude driver who kept stealing her pre-paid parking space. Sharing her mum’s story, the daughter told Reddit users how her mum moved into a flat near her university in her 20s but faced the daily scrape of finding a parking slot.

To end the hassle, she struck a deal with her landlord to lease a spot right on her doorstep. Chuffed, the landlord accepted the arrangement and even set up her number plate prominently to signal the space was reserved.

All was peachy for some time, and her mum was chuffed to bits with her very own parking spot until one day, an unknown driver started to use it as his own. The woman said: “Everything went well for a while and my mum was very happy with her spot until one day some jerk decided to park his car in my mum’s spot.”

Initially, her mum let it slide, hoping the rogue driver would find somewhere else to park. But as she found herself hunting fruitlessly for a parking spot night after night, she decided enough was enough.

When she spoke to her landlord about the situation, he claimed he wasn’t responsible for the actual availability of those spots and couldn’t do anything. His only suggestion was for her to get the vehicle towed if she wanted the matter resolved.

However, this would leave her mum out of pocket as she’d have to cover the cost until the driver accepted responsibility. Instead, she came up with a scheme to teach him a lesson herself.

She said: “My mum decided that she couldn’t let this go on and so she called her then-bf and two of his friends to help her with her plan. The next time that jerk parked his little car in my mum’s spot, they all went down to the parking lot and made sure no one was around to see. They then started lifting and carrying the car by doing swinging/bouncing motions and lifting it up on the count of three, moving it just a few inches at a time.

“After a few hours of doing this, they had successfully moved the jerk’s car to the centre of the parking lot (not in anyone’s spot, just on the little road in the parking lot). My mum saw a policeman giving the guy a ticket later that day, which isn’t too much – but that jerk sure as hell never parked in my mum’s spot again.”

Her post sparked a flurry of comments, with one user expressing admiration: “I’m impressed your group was able to carry it all the way there. Small cars aren’t as heavy but they are still 1+tonne vehicles.” Another user voiced their disbelief: “That’s ridiculous the landlord said he couldn’t guarantee availability. Isn’t that the whole point of paying for a reserved spot?”
