Erling Haaland stormed off the pitch in the immediate aftermath of Manchester City’s latest collapse.
Pep Guardiola’s side looked to be on the way to a huge victory against Real Madrid on Tuesday night. Two goals from the Norwegian forward had them ahead moving into the final stages.
But an equaliser from ex-City star Brahim Diaz levelled matters before Jude Bellingham snatched a dramatic win in stoppage time. And Haaland was far from happy come the full-time whistle.
After Bellingham’s winner, the striker was pictured looking particularly angry as he uttered a few words under his breath. Haaland then immediately walked to the tunnel when the full-time whistle blew, only offering a handshake to the passing Carlo Ancelotti, while he also appeared to get angry at something said by Kylian Mbappe.
And Haaland’s mood might not have improved if he heard Thierry Henry’s claim. Asked which of the Man City star or Mbappe was better, the ex-Arsenal and Barcelona star had a decisive answer.
“Kylian, for me, has more of a pass,” Henry said. “I’ll explain. This is a guy that’s trying to play as a nine for one and a half years.
“They tried to do it at Paris Saint-Germain and it didn’t work out too much. Now he is doing it at Real Madrid, the biggest club in Europe. He has to adapt to that.”
Talking specifically about Haaland, he added: “This guy has been playing as a nine since the beginning of his career. We thought that they were going to be the two guys that were going to come after [Lionel] Messi and [Cristiano] Ronaldo.

“But now, instead of having a confirmation of what they are, people are still questioning the way they play. But not the stats, because the stats are magnificent in terms of goals.”
Asked by Jamie Carragher who he would prefer to have in his side, Henry had another particularly decisive answer. He said: “Mbappe, all day. Because he does – or offers – different options. For a coach, he can play on the right, he can play on the left, and he can play in the middle. Can Haaland play any position other than a nine? For example, let me ask you a question… Who would you prefer to mark?”
Both Carragher and Micah Richards then claimed that they would prefer to play against Haaland. The latter will certainly hope he remains in form over the next week, with City needing to win in Madrid to progress.
