Season 3 of Euphoria is finally in the pipeline as HBO confirmed that production had kicked off, sharing a snapshot of lead star Zendaya on social media.
The third series has been hit with massive delays, partly due to the writers and SAG-AFTRA strikes in 2023, leaving fans on tenterhooks since season two wrapped up in February 2022.
With filming now in full swing, Hollywood legend and Emmy Award-winning actress Sharon Stone is reportedly in talks to join the cast, as per Deadline.
The role Sharon might take on remains under wraps, but with the third season featuring a significant time jump that sees the characters leave high school behind, it’s all up in the air, as specific details have been deliberately kept hush-hush.
Joining Sharon as new faces in the third season are Grammy Award winner Rosalia, Super Bowl champ Marshawn Lynch and NAACP Image Award winner Kadeem Hardison, reports the Express.
Alongside Zendaya, many other familiar faces will be returning to the show, including Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie, and Maude Apatow. The series centres around Zendaya’s character, Rue Bennett, a troubled teen drug addict grappling with sobriety after exiting rehab.
She endeavours to find her footing in the world while adapting to her new life and navigating the ups and downs of high school.
The series has been a smash hit, garnering praise from fans and critics for its daring themes and stellar performances.
It’s racked up numerous awards, including an Emmy nod for Outstanding Drama Series and Zendaya snagging two Emmys and a Golden Globe for Best Actress.
With season three finally confirmed, social media is buzzing with fans sharing their joy after the long wait.
A Reddit user exclaimed: “Can we all just take a moment and acknowledge that it actually exists!? I genuinely thought this wasn’t going to happen.”
Another fan posted: “We’re back!! For real this time!! Idk how the new aspect ratio and vibe for this season will pan out based off one pic, but I trust it will be good!” (sic)
A third chimed in: “I need this injected in my veins. It feels like a fever dream—this is really coming out, and it’s not cancelled.”
A release date for Euphoria season 3 is yet to be revealed, the first two seasons are available to watch on NOW TV
