The third series of The White Lotus is certainly making waves, with viewers gripped by its array of peculiar scenes and moments. Among the cast for the third season is American actress Parker Posey, who portrays a wealthy Southern matriarch named Victoria Ratcliff.
Alongside her affluent family, which includes husband Timothy Ratcliff (played by Jason Isaacs) and children Piper (Sarah Catherine Hook), Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger) and Lochlan (Sam Nivola), they are guests at the luxury hotel The White Lotus in Thailand.
With fresh episodes released weekly, let’s delve into Parker’s life, from her early collaborations with big-name stars to her romantic relationships.
Parker’s first significant film role was in the coming-of-age comedy Dazed and Confused, which also featured Matthew McConaughey, Ben Affleck and Renee Zellweger. In 2000, she appeared in the third instalment of the Scream franchise as Jennifer Jolie, before starring in Blade: Trinity in 2004, reports the Mirror US.
Adding to her impressive portfolio, Parker played Kitty Kowalski in the 2006 film Superman Returns.
Her other notable film credits include the supernatural horror movie The Eye, the biographical drama Grace of Monaco, alongside Nicole Kidman, and the 2023 film Beau is Afraid with Joaquin Phoenix.
Parker tends to keep her personal life and relationships under wraps, with little known about her off-screen life.
She once dated musician Ryan Adams, who later married actress Mandy Moore from 2009 to 2016. Adams has faced allegations of sexual misconduct and psychological manipulation by multiple women, including his ex-wife Mandy and singer Phoebe Bridgers.
In a revealing interview with Vulture in 2023, she commented on these issues: “These lines have been crossed for centuries. For centuries! Artists, a lot of them who are men, are very uncomfortable with their feminine side.”
She continued: “That’s why they make music. Do they have unhealthy relationships with women? Absolutely. And do they treat them badly? Yes.”
Parker’s Broadway journey began in 2000 when she graced the stage in Elaine May’s ‘Taller Than A Dwarf’, under the direction of Alan Arkin.
She returned to the theatrical limelight in David Rabe’s ‘Hurlyburly’ in 2005, and later captivated audiences as Pony Jones in Will Eno’s ‘The Realistic Joneses’ in 2012.
For her role in the comedy film ‘A Mighty Wind’ (2003), the actress honed her mandolin skills and showcased her vocal talent too.
