Eddie Jordan has admitted that he is ‘not himself’ amid his gruelling treatment for cancer.
The F1 icon was diagnosed with bladder and prostate cancer last year. And the disease has now spread to other parts of his body including his spine and pelvis.
The former team owner has been undergoing treatment since his diagnosis and gave a heartfelt update on Thursday. Speaking on talkSPORT about his takeover of London Irish, he updated listeners with a small segment at the end of the discussion.
He said: “Sorry guys, just a small thing, thank you. I’ve just come out of getting chemotherapy and I’m not 100 per cent together here guys. I’m just not myself at this moment in time. I’m a little all over the place, so please forgive me.”
talkSPORT host Alan Brazil was full of praise for his move to speak out. He said: “I wasn’t going to bring it up. But listen, if we can get this out to people, it’s encouraging. Well done you,” to which Jordan replied: “I just had a big deal of it yesterday, so I’m sorry, I’m not quite myself.”
Brazil rounded off the talk with a heartfelt message. He added: “Take care Eddie, don’t you worry, you were fine. Get your health better and come back to us with more positive news about London Irish.”
Fellow talkSPORT host Gabby Agbonlahor also gave his well-wishes with a short message. He said: “Eddie Jordan, top man.”
Jordan’s latest update comes after he urged members of the public to get tested for the disease. Speaking on his Formula For Success podcast with David Coulthard, Jordan said: “We’ve kind of alluded to it over the shows, way back in March and April, I was diagnosed with bladder and prostate cancer, and then it spread into the spine and the pelvis, so it was quite aggressive.

“We’ve all heard about our wonderful friend, Sir Chris Hoy, who’s an absolute megastar, and he is coming out and talking about illnesses like what I’ve got, but he’s a far younger man.
“But this is a little message, and everybody listening to this: Don’t waste or put it off. Go and get tested, because in life, you’ve got chances. And there is so much medical advice out there and so many things that you can do to extend your lifetime. Go and do it. Don’t be stupid. Don’t be shy. It’s not a shy thing. Look after your body, guys.”
Jordan was first involved in F1 in 1991 as he founded the Jordan Grand Prix team, giving Michael Schumacher his debut before his switch to Benetton. The team’s best finish came in 1999 as they finished third with Damon Hill and Heinz-Harald Frentzen driving. He eventually sold the team in 2005.
