Zoe Ball and Fatboy Slim’s rarely seen daughter enjoyed a night out with her famous dad as her estranged parents grow close again.
The famous exes welcomed their son, Woody, into the world in 2000 and ten years later they became parents to their daughter, Nelly. Sadly radio star Zoe, 54, and DJ Norman Cook, 61, called time on their relationship in 2016 and announced that they’d “come to the end of our rainbow”.
Zoe and Norman remained important figures in each other’s lives by co-parenting their children, yet have spent more time together than in years following her decision to quit BBC Radio 2. She stepped down from her breakfast show in December to ‘focus on her family’ as she let go of her £950,000 salary in favour of working in a local café.
While Zoe has taken a step back from the public eye, Norman took their daughter Nelly to a glitzy showbiz bash at the O2 Arena. They had some father daughter time in the capital as they enjoyed a night at the F1 75 Live. Norman beamed as he held his arm around Nelly in one of her rare public appearances.
She also smiled as she wore an all black outfit featuring a leather jacket and bodycon dress. Nelly looked gorgeous as she leant into her famous father and kept her brunette locks pin straight as well as adding a red lip. Her brother Woody gave an insight into their family life last week as he shared how mum Zoe has been doing ‘lots of puzzles’ and is getting back into gardening since quitting her job at the BBC.
Woody admitted it has been ‘funny’ watching his ‘crazy party’ parents Zoe and Norman ditch their wild nights out on the town for a more wholesome lifestyle. “In the last five years, it’s been funny watching my parents take up gardening both of them,” he shared. “These crazy party people I grew up with are now gardening, making puzzles and working in the local café. It’s very funny to see that transitional period, just as I’m kind of leaving the nest and now at the start of something big for me in music,” he told MailOnline.
Zoe and Norman are now working in their local cafe, the Big Beach Cafe in Hove, that the musician owns. Woody also addressed his mother’s departure from BBC Radio 2, admitting that he’s thrilled about her decision because he now gets to spend a lot more time with her. He confessed: “It’s lovely seeing my mum more, because obviously she’s had quite a weird schedule for the last few years.”
A source shed light on Zoe and Norman’s reignited closeness last year, telling MailOnline how the Praise You DJ had been “very much there for” the radio DJ during a difficult time. Back in March, the beloved presenter told Radio 2 listeners that she would be temporarily stepping away from the mic to be with her mum Julia, who’d recently been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.
Sadly Julia passed away in May – 12 weeks after her diagnosis. Speaking to OK! in September, a source claimed that Zoe had found solace in her ex-husband during this period of her life. “Zoe has really struggled these past few months as she copes with the loss of her mum and just lots of changes in her life,” they said. “And despite them splitting up, Norman is the one person she can still rely on and he has been her rock, as he always is.”
