Gary Neville is celebrating his 50th birthday today and his devoted wife Emma Hadfield will likely be on hand to make sure he celebrates milestone bash in style.

Taking to Instagram with a sweet collage of pics, Emma, wished her hubby a very happy birthday, declaring “I love you with all my [heart emoji].” This comes mere days after shared an adorable couple’s snap to mark Valentine’s Day, writing, “Happy Valentine’s Day to my gorgeous wife. All my love forever.”

Mum-of-two Emma tends to keep a low profile, but she has spoken passionately about a “lonely” health battle she “wasn’t ready for”, which prompted her to become a voice for women navigating the same ordeal.

Middleton-born Emma has spoken candidly about the difficulties she faced after going through early menopause, which inspired her to launch her This Is Me community.

Outlining her mission online, Accredited Menopause Coach Emma explained: “I was 41 when I faced early menopause. I wasn’t ready, prepared or had any knowledge on how to support myself. The journey was lonely and scary and I knew something had to change.

“If I had the tools I have now, my journey would have been much different. This is Me is a space for Women to feel understood, celebrated and supported through the journey to well-being. It’s the resource I wish I had when going through my experience.”

This support network, which launched in 2022 , focused on teaching women about the menopause, offering some much needed advice and support. According to the NHS, menopause before the age of 45 is referred to early menopause, and affects approximately five per cent of women.

Unfortunately, many women will enter this change of life completely unprepared, having not received any education on the subject. For those who believed they had many years ahead to prepare themselves for the menopause, this can be a physically and emotionally difficult time – as Emma herself knows all too well.

In an accompanying video, Emma, who qualified as a counsellor in 2019, went into more detail about her plans for the platform, sharing: “Hi everyone. I’m Emma Neville and I’m about to launch ‘This Is Me’. This Is Me is a community. It’s about empowering women to feel safe, feel heard, have a voice. I want to bring communities together. I want to be with like-minded women, and real women, who’ve got real stories, real challenges. And together, as a community, we can help each other.

“For me, having an early menopause made me educate myself, made me do some research, and become a menopause coach. I felt so heard and found my tribe. So I wanted to create that kind of environment through This Is Me. That community. That connection. So this felt right to share that space and to feel that other women could be heard and seen. So This Is Me. This is her. This is she. This is them.”

Showing support for Emma’s worthy endeavours at the time, proud husband Gary, commented: “So proud of my wife Emma with the launch of her new community for women.”

Gary and Emma first locked eyes during a night out in Manchester in 2004, back when Emma was working as a shop assistant. In an interview with Great British Life last August, Gary revealed: “Our first date was at the Living Room in Manchester but the real test for me was our second date, taking her to the Wellington pub in Bury for the quiz. It would have been so easy to take her to a fancy restaurant but I wanted to take her to the places I love and see what she thought. And the rest is history.”

The happy couple tied the knot at Manchester Cathedral in the summer of 2007, with fellow footballing legends Ryan Giggs, Wayne Rooney and Paul Scholes in attendents. As reported by the Manchester Evening News at the time, crowds of onlookers turned up in their thousands to get a glimpse of the bride and groom, bringing traffic to a standstill.

Gary and Emma went on to welcome daughters Molly and Sophie, and continue to live in the Manchester area.
