Grantchester actor Robson Green is set to star alongside Line of Duty’s Jason Watkins in Channel 5’s new stalker thriller, Catch You Later, and it promises to be a nail-biter.

Jason takes on the role of police detective Huw Miller, who becomes suspicious that his new neighbour Patrick (played by Green) is the culprit in an unsolved murder case he was previously involved in.

The synopsis for this suspenseful thriller reveals that Huw is tormented by the one case he couldn’t crack, “a stalker who taunted his town, mercilessly playing with his victims before eventually killing them”.

“As Huw tries to ease into retirement, the case continues to haunt him – and when new neighbour, Patrick Harbottle moves in and chillingly says ‘catch you later’ the same phrase the stalker used to taunt Huw during the investigation Huw is convinced he’s finally found his man,” the synopsis further explains.

As a tense “psychological chess game” unfolds between the two, Huw’s life begins to unravel. “Unable to bear the guilt of another victim falling prey to the stalker under his watch, Huw risks it all to uncover the truth,” the synopsis teases. “But has he targeted the right man, or is his obsession driving him closer to the edge?”

Sunetra Sarker (known for Casualty, Ackley Bridge) also features in the four-part series, which is directed by Toby Frow (Silent Witness, Midsomer Murders) and written by Tom Grieves (Being Human, No Offence).

In a recent interview, Robson discussed the show, saying: “It’s a game where these two men are almost stalking each other.”

“When Patrick says, ‘catch you later’, it sets something off in Huw, who believes he’s found his man,” explained the Grantchester star. “Patrick comes across as overly friendly, and Huw senses that something isn’t quite right. You quickly realise there’s a game afoot, but is Patrick actually a stalker, and is Huw on the right path or losing his grip on reality?”

Catch You Later isn’t the first project Robson and Jason have collaborated on. They previously joined forces for an episode in season three of the BBC drama Being Human.

Additionally, Jason made a guest appearance in one episode of the ITV drama Soldier Soldier, which starred Robson.

Catch You Later is coming to Channel 5.
