‘I tell everyone about these sleep supplements – I saw improvements in a week’

Now I’m in my mid-thirties, I’m obsessed with sleep: how much I’m getting (or not), and its quality. Whereas when I was younger I could nod off anywhere, now I can’t drift off without my favourite silk eye mask, pillow mist and weighted blanket. And I’m clearly not alone, with 71% of UK adults admitting that that struggle with getting their recommended nine hours of sleep. There’s even now a whole day dedicated to sleep: World Sleep Day, on 14 March.

And so when I hear a recommendation for a product that someone has said makes a genuine difference to their sleep, I think it’s worth sharing – which is what I recently received from a member of our very own Mirror team, who swears by this magnesium supplement

Magnesium helps to support the body in lots of different ways, including easing stiff muscles, supporting heart health and reducing fatigue, and is becoming increasing popular for those looking for a better night’s sleep.

Our picture editor Kirsty Thornley raves about Ancient + Brave’s True Magnesium+ capsules, which cost £24 for 30 servings (£19.20 is you subscribe for regularly orders), and which have been recently endorsed by wellbeing podcaster Fearne Cotton.

Kirsty says, “I have had poor sleep ever since having children. Almost every night I would wake up around 3am and could not go back to sleep. It has been like this for so long, and has got worse in the last years of my 40s and heading into the menopause.

“I started taking the Ancient + Brave True Magnesium+ tablets, two at night about 30 mins before bed, and within a week I started to notice the difference. There has been a huge improvement in my sleep: I’m not waking as much, my sleep is deep, and I feel rested when I wake up. I put this down to these magnesium tablets, and have been telling everyone I know about them!”

For optimum wellbeing benefits Ancient + Brave recommends pairing its True Magnesium+ capsules with its True Ashwagandha supplements, also £24, to help with lowering cortisol, enhancing immune resilience and restoring internal balance.

Amazon has also revealed that purchases of magnesium supplements on the shopping site have hugely increased, with Nutrition Geeks’ Magnesium Glycinate 3-in-1, currently £8.95, proving to be popular.

And to complement your bedtime routine, OK! Beauty Box has released a limited-edition Sleep Better Box containing nine relaxing beauty and wellbeing treats; it costs £60 to buy but is worth over £245 in total.
