A woman suffered excruciating pain when her intrauterine device (IUD) became “lodged” in her uterus unexpectedly during intercourse. Andressa Urach first dismissed it as a minor discomfort after getting intimate, but soon found herself battling severe cramps that saw her rushed to hospital.
The 37-year-old said: “I began experiencing abdominal discomfort that intensified over the afternoon. I started feeling pain similar to cramps but much stronger and more localised.”
It dawned on her that something was seriously amiss, prompting an emergency hospital visit. The ordeal unfolded when healthcare workers determined that her IUD had dislodged. Reflecting on the scare, she said: “The doctor recommended immediate removal to prevent complications.”
Despite using the IUD for three years without hitches, Andressa was taken aback by the incident, acknowledging her anxiety over the unexpected turn of events, reports Surrey Live.
Now on the mend, Andressa acknowledged the rarity of such situations and shared: “Since having the IUD removed, I have followed all medical recommendations and recovered well. I am already feeling better. The doctor explained that this type of situation can happen in rare cases.”
She added words of reassurance about future precautions, saying, “And that, with proper precautions, there is no reason for concern.”
