Congratulations are in order for Anne-Marie and her husband Slowthai who are expecting their second child together.
Sharing the news on social media, the 2002 singer shared a video of her blossoming baby bump as she mimed along to her song Don’t Panic. Captioning the shock post, she wrote: “Surprise.” In response to the happy news, fans of Anne-Marie, 33, rushed to the comments section to show their support for the pair. “Omg!!!!! Congratulations,” wrote one. “Oh congratulations!! That’s amazing!,” another added.
The surprise announcement comes just two months after Anne-Marie opened up on having the “hardest year”. In an Instagram post shared in December, the Friends songstress reflected on 2024 as she looked back on the turbulent past 12 months.
“2024 the most beautiful yet hardest year of our lives. God really tryina see how strong I am hahaha. I miss you all and I love you all more than you’ll ever know. I have SO MUCH for you in the new year that you’ll probably be sick of me (please don’t be) have the best break if you can and see you soon,” she wrote.
After going public with her romance with Slowthai in 2023, 2024 saw the pair embark on parenthood together – though it brought more challenging moments too. In December 2024, Slowthai was cleared of raping two fans.
On December 16, he was cleared at Oxford Crown Court as jurors came back after more than ten hours of deliberation. His co-accused, Alex Blake-Walker, was also cleared of one count of sexual assault.
The jury returned their verdicts following a two-week trial during which it was alleged the two defendants assaulted two women in the early hours of September 8, 2021. Anne-Marie had stood by her partner’s side as he arrived at court in November and the pair put on a united front as they walked hand-in-hand.
After jurors cleared him of three counts of rape, the musician burst into tears in the dock. Judge Ian Pringle KC told the court that the case had “raised a lot of high feelings”. Relatives and friends of the accused, including Anne-Marie, sighed in relief as the verdicts were read out.
The pair, who are believed to have started dating in 2022, have tended to keep their relationship away from the spotlight. However, in February 2023 Slowthai spoke to Rolling Stone about how he and Anne-Marie were able to “talk and vent about stuff” together.
While he didn’t comment on the nature of their relationship, he added: “You either get on like a house on fire with some people, or you don’t. And some people feel like they’re part of the furniture, that they’ve always been around and known you.”
One month later, The Voice star shared a video of them both on TikTok in which she kissed her beau on the face. In March 2024, the pair were hit by rumours of a potential engagement or wedding and a source told The Sun that they’d secretly tied the knot two years prior.
“Anne-Marie and Slowthai got married in secret two years ago,” they alleged. “She had an eight-week break from her tour and they went to Las Vegas and got married.”
Last year the pair also welcomed their first child, Seven, into the world. Reflecting on becoming a mum, Anne-Marie spoke about the realities of being a working parent.
“It is definitely the hardest thing working and being a mumma. I mean, it’s the hardest thing JUST being a mumma without the working part! So many people made it look so easy hahaha but here we are, peas in a pod. We’re doing it. She is so beautiful and so chunky and so perfect,” she wrote on Instagram in August.
“ALSO, having the BEST shows this summer has helped beautiful new memories made with all of you. Cannot wait for you to see what’s coming next.”
