Michelle Keegan and Mark Wright have splashed out thousands on their stunning home and spent years on extensive renovations to make it perfect.

The married couple, who are expecting their first child this year, started work on their lavish Essex mansion in 2020. They have made sure to keep fans updated on their progress as they detailed every little decision they made on their way to creating a dream home. After a long labour of love, Mark and Michelle were able to show off their completed house last year to their closest friends and family.

However, this week the couple became targeted by masked thieves and were forced to lock themselves in their bedroom. They are said to have heard their porch window smash before their alarm system went off on Tuesday evening. It has been reported four suspects were in the home for close to a minute before rushing out when they heard former TOWIE star Mark yelling – as he managed to scare off the intruders without leaving his pregnant wife’s side.

Authorities were alerted via the couple’s security system, with Michelle and Mark relieved for their safety and that nothing was stolen. Despite their relief, the scary incident has reportedly left them “very shaken up”.

Earlier this month, Mark proudly showed off the phenomenal makeover of the staircase at the sprawling mansion. The couple’s home Instagram account gave a peek into the “mind blowing” transformation of their spiral staircase, which effortlessly takes centre stage in their not-so-humble abode.

Photos revealed the dazzling white marble staircase spiralling upwards, complete with sophisticated black railings towards the upper levels. The elegance is topped off with a chandelier decked with white glass baubles, delicately suspended from the high ceilings, directing attention along the majestic stairway to the ground level.

The couple also teased fans by posting previously unseen pictures showing the staircase’s appearance before the renovations. They captioned the post: “Still mind blowing how the staircase ended up. Swipe for before’s. Designed & built by @escalier_uk.” Their main living room features a huge cream sofa where they can enjoy cosy movie nights.

Mark wrote alongside the clip: “Wanna watch a movie?” In the middle of the room there’s a neutral circular coffee table topped with candles and books. The room is decorated with white carpet and white panelled walls. The couple, who got married back in 2015, bought the mansion for £1.3 million but it’s now thought the home could be worth a huge £3.5 million.

The house boasts huge grounds as well as an outdoor swimming pool. There are five bedrooms, with three of them having their own dressing rooms. Mark shared snaps of their impressive bathroom which features its own steam room and sauna. The specious bathroom has marble floors and low lighting to add to the luxury.

Fans of Mark and Michelle have been consistently interested in their house renovations, with Mark taking the lead with most of the building work. Speaking to Entertainment Daily about the house’s progress in 2022, Mark said: “It’s coming on well. It’s a stressful time. I’m so into it. Where we’re building it from scratch, I want it to be our dream home and our forever home.”

Mark told the publication that although the pair have ‘a similar sense of style’, Michelle is the one who gets the final say when adding the finishing touches. The former TOWIE star joked: “I’d rather it that way because then I don’t get blamed if anything goes wrong!” Mark has admitted that although he has enjoyed the process of designing and renovating his home, there have been some moment which were tough.

Writing in an Instagram update, the reality TV star said: “A process that has been extremely mentally and physically tough at times but one that is so rewarding. On to the final stages now and can’t wait for you to see it all come together 100 per cent.” Their home also boasts a fully equipped gym and a bar.
