Ioan Gruffudd’s ex Alice Evans says she’s been ‘evicted from LA home’ amid their bitter court battle

Alice Evans has revealed she is being evicted from her LA home in the wake of her bitter court battle with ex Ioan Gruffudd.

The 56-year-old British-American actress, who shares two daughters with former husband Ioan, 51, took to Instagram to share a throwback snap with her kids during “happy times”. But The Vampire Diaries star said she had “no way of renting even the cheapest room in the city” as the custody case over their children continues.

Giving context to the family snap, Alice posted: “Not sure of the date but guessing around 2016. Happy times before the bomba was dropped! Funnily enough in the neighbourhood where we’re currently living.” She then went on to say: “I have TWO big pieces of news for you all. This one is about home life.

“So we’re going to be evicted, and we have no way of renting even the cheapest room anywhere in this city. Don’t be sad – this is not a cry for sympathy or for help but just to say that I will be live – posting what goes on in the court re: the eviction, and passing on tips for anybody else who finds themselves in this situation.”

She added: “I think, especially since the fires and then the start of the second Trump admin, there will be lot of people like us, fighting for a place to simply rest their heads and if my platform can help anybody out or at least make them feel less along then that makes me happy. On the work front… watch this space!”

A year ago, Alice was said to be contemplating taking a job in Starbucks following her 2023 divorce from husband of 16 years. She reportedly told pals that the $100,000 she got from the sale of their marital home is now all gone, much of it on lawyers, and she is now in a financial crisis.

MailOnline reported a source told them at the time: “Alice has been extremely upset and says that she can’t afford to make rent when it is due later this month – at least not if they want to eat – and has just hit a financial rock bottom. She says she has nothing – not even medical insurance.

“She’s been told that she should get a job, but has not found any acting work. And in any case she needs to look after their children who are school age. She has been discussing trying for a job in Starbucks, but she thinks they might not want her as she is probably too old for them at 55. Also her agent doesn’t want her to do it in case it looks bad. She is feeling desperate and is out of ideas about how she can get along. She has been crying herself to sleep.”

Alice and Ioan met on the 102 Dalmatians film set in 1999, and married in 2007. They split in January 2021, with Alice announcing the news on social media by saying: “Sad news. My beloved husband/soul mate of 20 years, Ioan Gruffudd, has announced he is to leave his family, starting next week. Me and our young daughters are very confused and sad. We haven’t been given a reason except that he ‘no longer loves me’. I’m so sorry.”

Later that year Ioan, who has starred in TV shows like ITV drama Liar opposite Joanne Froggatt to blockbusters like Titanic, went public with his new girlfriend Bianca Wallace, a 32-year-old aspiring actress who had a role as an extra in Ioan’s drama Harrow, which was filmed in Australia. In January 2024, the pair became engaged.

In a strange turn of events, Alice was ordered to leave an LA courtroom in September last year for appearing to take unauthorised snaps of her former spouse during a child support hearing regarding their daughters. It flouted the strict no-photos rule that’s enforced in courtrooms across the US and UK.

But Alice has since insisted she wasn’t taking photos of Ioan. Instead she claimed she was photographing a female lawyer in court named Andrea Burkhart. According to court documents, Alice claims Burkhart “has been fraternising” with her estranged husband. She also claims the lawyer “has said awful things about me” and “refers to me as Malice instead of Alice in her Twitter posts.”

Ioan has claimed that since they split his ex-wife has “engaged in a pattern of damaging and defamatory conduct against me, aimed at intimidating and harassing me and my fiancé, Bianca Wallace, while alienating our two young children from me.” He has also claimed to have paid $400,000 more in spousal support that he needed to under their pre-marital agreement. And in earlier court papers, he called Alice’s claims of poverty were “exaggerated” and said it’s a “false narrative” that she and the children have been left destitute.
