Jack Fincham’s heartbreaking reason behind big career change amid addiction admission

Jack Fincham has revealed that he’s returned to the job he worked in before going on Love Island seven years on from finding reality fame.

The former Love Island star – who won back in 2017 with ex Dani Dyer – recently opened up about how he spent over £1 millions on “drugs, booze and gambling” and how addiction led him to attempt suicide. Opening up about the tough few years he’s faced on This Morning, Jack shared that he was starting anew by returning to his previous job as a stationary salesman and getting back into boxing.

“I’m setting goals for myself so I just thought, ‘What were you good at? Boxing.’ So, I signed up for a fight on the 1 March,” he said. Jack added that he’s boxing as a professional in England and has signed up to a management company – however, he is also back working as a pen salesman.

“I’ve gone back to office supplies and stationary. I’m back as a pen seller. I’m good at it, I know what I’m doing and for me, I’m comfortable with it,” he said.

He continued: “I’ve boxed my whole life and I’ve sold pens since I’ve been 16. Stick to those two things as the comfort because you know what you’re doing, you’re confident in what you’re doing.”

Jack also revealed that after losing work with brands due to his recent troubles, he has begun studying finance. “Being in this industry, sometimes it’s those mistakes you’ve done, you’re not right for this brand and people telling you what you’re not right for.

“So I thought, ‘OK, what can I learn as a skill that can, I can have for myself?’ That’s why I’m doing a master’s degree in financial trading. No one can take that away from me, then I’ve earned that and I’ve done it.”

In an interview with The Sun, Jack spoke about his addiction to drugs, alcohol and gambling – revealing that he was detained by police last year after going into a drug withdrawal “psychosis”. He also revealed that his problem with drugs led to his split from Dani Dyer in 2018, saying: “I was absent, my priorities were wrong, I wasn’t a great boyfriend. I am determined to change my future.”
