Jack Whitehall has revealed why Travels With My Father won’t be back on Netflix.
The 36-year-old comedian has been starring in the road trip comedy television series alongside his 84-year-old father, Michael Whitehall – a former theatre agent – since it began in 2017. The most recent season of the show, sub titled The Final Journey, was released in 2021 and saw Jack and Michael travel around the UK amid the pandemic.
It now seems this really was the end of the road for Jack and his dad for their series as the comic has confirmed there are no plans to film any new episodes. He also revealed that Michael is hoping to “enjoy his retirement” rather than engage in any more filming.
Speaking on the Fifi, Fev and Nick podcast, Jack explained: “I don’t know if we are doing any more Travels with My Father, I don’t think he wants to leave the house again after this tour. It’s very much his farewell tour and he wants to now enjoy his retirement.”
Showcasing his at times dark sense of humour, Jack went on: “I’ve always very much pitched we could maybe do something else in the future, I think we could do a one-off Christmas special where I take him to one of those clinics in Switzerland . . . the final trip!”
Over the weekend, Jack won praise as he returned to host The BRIT Awards after a four year absence. He was joined by his father and mother, Hilary, 63, who he roped in to one hilarious sketch that saw them take aim at Kanye West and his wife Bianca Censori.
The skit began with Jack revealing he had been called to the red carpet to resolve an issue – with his parents being banned from entering the awards show. The camera panned back to show Hilary posing in a huge, furry coat – while Michael was dressed all in black and wearing sunglasses – mirroring the controversial outfits Kanye and Bianca wore to the 2025 Grammy Awards.
As Hilary complained her coat was making her feel too hot, Jack urged her not to take it off, with the cameras cutting back to him as the coat was thrown at his head – and it was then suggested his mother was then standing naked in front of him.
Elsewhere in the awards, Jack lampooned YouTube star KSI, mocked Stormzy over his controversial McDonald’s deal, and ended up embarrassing himself when he made jokes about sex toys while being sat beside Little Mix star Jade’s mum. However, there was one joke that Jack cracked that did not go down well with viewers.
After Jade performed on stage, he cracked a joke about P Diddy’s ‘white party’, leaving fans horrified. One viewer wrote: “Jack Whitehall making a Diddy joke was so tasteless and tone deaf. #BRITs2025,” whilst another added: “Mentioning Diddy after the whole, very blatant, message of JADEs performance ??? Get this man off my screen #brits2025.”
