Daily US Times: Joe Biden’s wife Jill Biden said her husband is “ready” to face Donald Trump in the first presidential debate this week. She accused the President of trying to distract with smears during the tense campaign.
In an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper, Jill Biden said: “He’s ready. One of the things I’m excited for is when the American people see Joe Biden up there on that stage.”
“They’re going to see what a president looks like. You know, someone who is, like I’m saying, calm, steady, strong, resilient,” she added.
She said it’s “night and day between the two candidates,” who will face off for the first time Tuesday in Cleveland.
“So I can’t wait for the American people to see Joe, to see that statesman up there in front of the American public.”
Both campaigns have been quiet about how the candidates are preparing for the debate, which will be 90 minutes and focus on six topics, including the Supreme Court and coronavirus pandemic.
Bob Bauer, former White House counsel in the Obama administration and a senior adviser to the Biden campaign, has played Trump in a mock debate session Biden has held ahead of Tuesday night’s debate, a source familiar with the preparations confirms.
People familiar with his preparations said, Biden’s early debate preparations focused on reading briefing books and holding smaller prep sessions with policy aides. The former Vice President typically prefers having aides pepper him with questions in rapid-fire form over conducting full mock debates, those people said.
