Katie Price has long been in the spotlight for her string of high-profile relationships, including a turbulent romance with her ex whom she once described as the ‘love of her life.’ The former glamour model, 46, has always been open about her past relationships, one of the most notable being with singer Dane Bowers.

Her romance with Dane, 45, from Another Level, spanned from 1998 to 2000. The couple first crossed paths at the Wild Wild West film premiere in 1999, where they instantly hit it off. At the time, Dane had just become known for his high-profile hit “Out of Your Mind,” collaborating with Victoria Beckham, which had shot him into the limelight.

Katie, only 18 at the time, had been carving her career in the late ’90s as a topless model under the name Jordan. Her rise to stardom was rapid, and soon she was gracing the covers of countless men’s magazines. But the couple’s relationship was said to have been plagued by rumours of infidelity and trust issues.

Bowers was said to have been drawn to Katie’s glamour-girl image at first, but being with someone whose career was always in the spotlight soon proved to be challenging for him. Katie’s mum, Amy, revealed in her book The Last Word that Katie wasn’t happy in the relationship and that Dane got “jealous of her career.”

Though they seemed to be in a happy relationship, the truth was far from that behind closed doors. Kaite once claimed that her boyfriend had been cheating on her.

Opening up on the Katie Price Show, she said: “He cheated on me bad. Oh my God, so bad.” She claimed he had reportedly been unfaithful with a dancer in Ibiza, with footage of the woman talking about Katie. She added: “So I was trying to get this video and I got it. When Dane came back, because we lived together, I said ‘Dane, just sit down, I’ve got something to show you’. I put it on and said, ‘So are you going to f***ing explain that then?’

“And he said ‘Oh no’, you know, denied it. And I just knew. Because then he went out with Sarah Bosnich, when he did the song with Victoria Beckham. Suddenly I wasn’t allowed to go away with them because there ‘wasn’t enough room’. Then he ended up with Sarah Bosnich, who was Victoria’s friend. I’ve just been betrayed and lied to and everything.”

The pair dated for three years, but when they split, Katie admits she became “obsessed” and desperately tried to win him back – even tragically taking an overdose at one point in a bid to get his attention. The now mum-of-five overdosed on pills and had to be rushed to the hospital.

In an interview with The Sun, Bowers revealed that his ex called him after the incident, telling him she had “done something stupid.” It was at that moment that he learned Katie had aborted the couple’s baby.

The singer shared: “I went to visit her in the hospital and when I arrived she was clutching a picture of us. It was only later that I found out that she had had an abortion too.”

During one of her podcast episodes, the ex I’m A Celebrity star confessed she was “terrible” when it came to matters of the heart in her younger years, admitting she would chase after Dane even after they had broken up.

Katie also revealed that her breakup was the “hardest” as he had broken her heart. She later went on to admit that Dane had been the ‘love of her life’ despite being with her husband Kieran Hayler at the time. “The hardest break-up I ever went through was with Dane Bowers. My heart was literally in bits,” she said on her Youtube channel.

“Everyone always thinks my hardest break-up was Pete [Andre] but it wasn’t that it wasn’t a hard break-up, it’s just what came with it with Pete that was hard. So definitely Dane broke my heart – literally.”

Dane didn’t hold back when talking about his complicated history with Katie, saying, “She is obsessed. I try to move on but she loves to drag it up by telling everyone on CBB about how I broke her heart 15 years ago.”

Despite both of them moving on with their lives, Dane admitted in 2015 that he had struggled to leave their past behind, just a year before he and Katie had reunited for a Christmas bash. “I still get messages every day about Katie — mostly about the sex tape that went around the world,” he shared. “It’s embarrassing. I’ll never get away from it – or her.”
