Some viewers have questioned the editing on Love Island amid concerns ahead of the All Stars final.
Catherine Agbaje, 24, and Omar Nyame, 26, are among the remaining couples on the new series of the ITV2 show. They have been coupled-up in the villa in South Africa for almost two weeks following Omar’s arrival as a bombshell.
Just days away from the final, it’s been suggested that they haven’t been seen as much as some of the other islanders. The likes of Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu and Curtis Pritchard, as well as Harriett Blackmore and Ronnie Vint, have featured prominently in previous episodes amid drama in the villa.
Following Tuesday’s episode, one fan wrote on X: “How can Omar and Catherine win? They haven’t even had an hour of screen time this whole season.” Another said: “These people are not giving Catherine and Omar any screen time.”
A third viewer wrote: “Would say having Catherine and Omar in the finals is looking doable but that depends on if the producers show them for more than 2 seconds in the next few episodes.” Someone else said on the platform: “WHERE IS THE SCREEN TIME FOR OMAR AND CATHERINE?!? I feel like I barely know them as a couple!”
Another viewer said they occasionally “forget” they are on the show. They wrote: “Can Catherine and Omar please get more screen time, I legit forget they’re in the show sometimes, they should be shown more they seem amazing.”
There were also comments during the episode’s broadcast, with one fan writing: “Why do Catherine and Omar not get any screen time?” Another said: “It’s not fair because I’m seeing posts calling them boring when in reality we aren’t being given the chance to see them.” A third person wrote: “Screen time for everyone but Omar and Catherine.”
Catherine and Omar ended up being involved in a tense moment later in the episode though. It came after the islanders were told the results of polls they had proposed for viewers to answer about the couples still on All Stars.
Fans were asked by Catherine and Omar if they considered them compatible, with it revealed in the episode that 70 percent of viewers voted yes. Catherine had said: “We know we’re compatible. [Our co-stars] think we’re compatible. It’s just to see if everyone else thinks that we’re compatible too.”
Shortly afterwards it was announced that, for their question about another couple, they had asked if the public agree that Casey O’Gorman is on the show for “clout”. It comes after the suggestion was brought up in a previous game.
Casey wasn’t impressed by the question, saying: “We cleared it up in the game. […] I just think it’s been spoken about now and should be dropped.” Catherine began to address his concern at one point but he told her to stop talking in a tense exchange before Omar explained his reasoning.
Omar said: “Us personally, we done it because we thought if we ask it, and you get the right answer, it’s reassuring for you and Gabby because you know that you’re not here for that reason.” He added that viewers are “watching”.
It was then revealed that 56 percent of viewers had disagreed that Casey had returned for a third stint in the villa for “clout,” with 44 percent instead voting in agreement. Casey said that it had been a “weird question” but Omar stated that, following the public’s verdict, any concern about Casey’s reason for being on the show was now “completely put to bed”.
