Daily US Times, Washington: A man was arrested just outside of the White House after he told a US Secret Service officer that he was there to kill Trump. Police said the man was carrying a knife.

The 25-year-old man named Roger Hedgpeth was arrested on Saturday and police charged him of making threats to do bodily harm.

The Associated Press reports quoting the police report that Hedgpeth approached a Secret Service officer who was patrolling outside the White House and said he was there to kill Trump and said: “I have a knife to do it with.”

Police found a 3 1/2-inch knife and an empty pistol holster with him.

He immediately brought into custody and later taken to a hospital to evaluate mental health conditions. Police also impounded his vehicle.

The Business Insider reports that a telephone number listed for Hedgpeth in public records rang unanswered on Sunday and It wasn’t clear yet where he lives or whether he had a lawyer who could comment on his behalf.

White House did not make any comment after the incident.

In recent years, White House security has been ramped up several times. In some cases, individuals successfully jumped over the iron fence surrounding the grounds, with one man making it all the way into the presidential residence in a 2014 incident that triggered the installation of higher fencing and additional barriers in high-traffic areas for tourists.
