Meghan Markle has jumped firmly back into the spotlight in recent weeks, rejoining social media and promoting the launch of her new Netflix show.
With the additional attention comes a lot of work, and it’s something her eldest son Prince Archie seems to have noticed. In a new interview with PEOPLE magazine, Meghan revealed an adorable demand he made of her while they were enjoying a chilled evening at their LA mansion.
She recalls him being in bed with her as she scrolled through emails about the launch of With Love, Meghan, when he sleepily muttered: ‘Mama, don’t work too hard”. She added: “It was the sweetest thing”.
In the chat she also revealed that Archie and Lili popped in to see her during filming, adding: “I loved that my children were able to watch me working and see the balance of that and understand what Mama does and is working to create and share.
“It was really special because up until then, they hadn’t seen me at work. I hope that when they get old enough, they feel really proud that they were part of the beginning of this with me.”
Meghan also confirmed that Archie and Lili use the surname Sussex, in keeping with royal tradition. Members of the royal family don’t officially have surnames as they have HRH titles instead. So, for example, Meghan’s official name is Meghan, Duchess of Sussex.
However this isn’t practical in normal life, especially for children at school, so royals tend to turn their title into a surname. And it seems Meghan and Harry have stuck to this tradition, with Meghan, Archie and Lili all using the surname Sussex.
In the chat, Meghan reveals how much having a shared name means to her, admitting she “hadn’t recognised how meaning that would be until [they] had children”. Meghan’s new Netflix show – With Love, Meghan – drops on Netflix tomorrow and will see her sharing her top lifestyle hacks.
She’s expecting to share recipes, gardening advice and hosting tips with viewers, while welcoming a host of celebrity pals. However she’s admitted the show wasn’t actually filmed in her home – as is quite common with celebrity TV shows – as she wanted to “protect” their family’s space.
