The body of a woman has been found at the bottom of cliffs at a Cornwall beauty spot.
Officers were called at 2.55pm on Saturday, February 8 following reports of a body being located at the bottom of cliffs in Porthtowan. The ambulance and coastguard were also called. The body was recovered to the beach by lifeboat.
The woman is believed to be in her 20s from the Truro area and is described as slim and white with dark hair. The woman was dressed entirely in black, including her shoes, and wearing trousers, a top and a lightweight coat with a red handbag.
Formal identification has yet to take place. Her death is being treated as unexplained, but it is not believed to be suspicious. A file will be prepared for the coroner.
Devon and Cornwall police are now urging anyone who has any information about the woman or who may have witnessed a woman at the cliffs at the time of the incident to get in touch..
A force spokesperson said: “Anybody who witnessed a female at the cliffs in Porthtowan between the afternoon of Friday, February 7 and the afternoon of Saturday, February 8 is asked to contact police on 101 or via our website quoting 50250033859.
“The female in question was described as being a white female, appearing to be in her late teens/early 20s of slim build with dark hair and wearing black shoes, black trousers, a black top and a lightweight black coat. She was carrying a red handbag.”
