Daily US Times: French football club Paris St-Germain are in talks with the representatives of Argentine superstar Lionel Messi about the player joining the Ligue 1 club following his Barcelona exit.
On Thursday, Messi’s agent contacted PSG after it has became clear that Barcelona were unable to honour the contract they had agreed.
Further talks between the two sides are taking place on Saturday amid increasing confidence a deal can be put together.
Football club Barcelona say Messi will give a news conference on Sunday at 11:00 BST.
On Thursday, the Spanish club said Lionel Messi, a free agent, would not stay at the club.
They blamed “financial and structural obstacles” for the player, who is considered one of the best in the games history, leaving after 21 years.
Barca president Joan Laporta said on Friday keeping Messi could have put the club at risk for 50 years.
Messi, who is now 34-year-old has been a free agent since 1 July when his contract expired.
The Argentine had agreed a new five-year contract on reduced wages – but the club still had to slash their wage bill to afford him, and were not able to do so.
The Argentina captain is has won 10 La Liga titles, seven Copa del Reys, four Champions Leagues and as well as claiming the Ballon d’Or on a record six occasions. He is Barcelona’s record scorer with 672 goals.
Messi was pictured with Neymar, a Brazilian supoerstar who was once Merri’s teammate in Barcelona, plus Argentina team-mates Angel di Maria and Leandro Paredes and fellow PSG star Marco Verrati on holiday earlier this month.
