Daily US Times, Kabul: A passenger plane has crashed in eastern Afghanistan. Officials confirmed the incident but they are yet to know the impact.

It has been reported that the plane has been carrying 83 passengers.

A provincial spokesman of Ghazni province said the aircraft came down in the Deh Yak district of the province, to the south-west of Kabul.

The spokesperson said the passenger plane crashed and caught fire due to technical reasons.

Local media initially reported that the plane belongs to Afghan airline Ariana but the company has denied this.

A representative of the airline said “Ariana planes that have left, have reached their destination and have not crashed” and confirmed that the crashed plane was not theirs.

Mystery started to circulate about the plane crash. What caused the crash is remains unclear, and no details about casualties have been given.

The area where the plane crashed have a strong Taliban presence.
