Few people can resist tucking into a Cadbury Flake but there’s a lot more to the deliciously crumbly treat than you might think.
The iconic company doesn’t tend to share many of its factory secrets, but fans have been treated to a behind-the-scenes look at how one of their much-loved bars is made – and you’ll never forget it.
Flakes are always a winner, espcially in a 99 ice cream cone, and now the official Cadbury TikTok page has shared how the unique chocolate bars are crafted before they are sealed in their yellow wrappers. The clever technique looks so simple, but can only be perfected by true chocolatiers. Either way, it’s left chocolate lovers in disbelief.
Filmed at the Cadbury HQ in Birmingham, the video has racked up a whopping 5.4 million views, more than 200,000 likes and hundreds of comments. It shows one of the Cadbury workers simply pushing a thin layer of chocolate together with a metal scraper to create the melt-in-your-mouth chocolate folds.
The seemingly simple technique has shocked fans who assumed there was much more to it. One commenter wrote: “So simple yet so perfect,” and another said: “I never knew this was how they’re made. Someone else asked: “It’s really that simple?”
“I have no idea how I thought they was made but somehow it wasn’t like this,” another commenter admitted. Meanwhile, one fan simply said: “nah didn’t think they were made like that.”
Some viewers were left in stitches at the use of the plastering tool emoji on the post. One commented: “Using a plastering tool,” followed by a smiling emoji.
However, others were left with more questions than answers as they were puzzled on how the chocolate doesn’t melt when scraped up, and wondered how the Flakes keep their iconic and recognisable design.
“Why don’t they melt though that is the question EVEYRONE wants to know,” one fan demanded, but it seems as if that’s one secret Cadbury will never share.
