Daily US Times: Police are searching for a Florida woman who went missing during a trip with her fiancé.

The 22-year-old Gabrielle “Gabby” Petito had not talked to her family since late August, when she was visiting Wyoming’s Grand Teton National Park with her boyfriend.

Police say the fiancé, Brian Laundrie, 23, has returned home and is now a person of interest in the case.

Both of them had been documenting their cross-country campervan trip on social media.

Police say Mr Laundrie returned to their Florida home on 1 September and Ms Petito’s parents reported her missing 10 days later.

But police say although Mr Laundrie is refusing to speak to them about her disappearance, he hasn’t been charged with any crime.

North Port police chief Todd Garrison said: “We are pleading with anyone, including Brian, to share information with us on her whereabouts in the past few weeks.”

“The lack of information from Brian is hindering this investigation. The answers will eventually come out,” the police chief said.

But Steve Bertolino, Brian Laundrie’s lawyer, defended his silence.

Ms Petito’s family have called on Mr Laundrie to give answers about their daughter, including when he last saw her and “why he left Gabby all alone and drove her van to Florida”.

They said in a statement: “These are critical questions that require immediate answers.”

Ms Petito’s father, in a statement, urged the public to provide information that could help in the case.
