Daily US Times, London: The Queen released the terms under which Prince Harry and Meghan are allowed to make their private life.
According to the Buckingham Palace, the couple will no longer use their HRH titles and will not receive public funds. HRS is an abbreviation of His/Her Royal Highness.
They will no longer formally represent the Queen.
The Palace statement added the Duke and Duchess of Sussex intend to repay £2.4m of taxpayer money for the refurbishment of Frogmore Cottage, which will remain their UK family home.
The new arrangement comes into effect in spring this year.
The Queen talked with the couple and other royals on Monday about their future. She held that emergency meeting after the couple announced that they wanted to “step back” as senior royals.
On the statement, the Queen said following “many months of conversations and more recent discussions” she was “pleased that together we have found a constructive and supportive way forward for my grandson and his family”.
UK media are describing the statement as very personal to the Queen as she mentioned ‘my’ several times.
“Harry, Meghan and Archie will always be much loved members of my family,” the statement continued.
She thanked the couple for their ”dedicated work”. She also mentioned she is proud of Meghan how she has so ”quickly become one of the family”.
HRH titles is used as part of the title of some members of the royal family.
BBC royal correspondent said, “I suspect that there may be a feeling in the palaces that perhaps at some point in the future they might come back.”
