Shocking moment gang of teens barge past Aldi security to steal bunches of flowers

These lovebirds may have romance in their hearts but they’re also seemingly fond of crime as they swiped flowers from a supermarket on Valentine’s Day.

The teenagers were shown on a video leaving the Aldi store in Ilford, east London, clutching flowers. Presumably their other halves would not have been so keen on the flowers if they had been aware of the discount the group helped themselves too.

On their way out the store they also walked past a security guard who did not react in time to stop them running away across the car park. The person making the recording, shared to social media, is heard saying: “They’re stealing, they’re stealing. What have they got, flowers?”

The unlikely heist caused many people to comment on the post. One said: “What a shower of s***. They’re an embarrassment to themselves and their families. Completely useless human beings and wastes of space.” Another added: “Imagine the girl you gave the flower sees this video and know the flower you gave her was stolen., while a third said: “Nothing says it better than stolen Aldi flowers. She will be impressed by that.”

One more said: “This is only one case ,sadly shops all over suffer . The larger stores can cope , other smaller shops have to fold . Either way the genuine customers will pay more for their groceries.” Another person commented “Girls, if these are the types of boyfriends you have, better start thinking what kind of future you will have together.”

Aldi has been approached for comment by the Mirror.

It comes as the chain unveiled major expansion plans for Britain in the next two years, with its sights set on every UK region. The £650m investment will include the development of new shops in Fulham Broadway, London, Billericay in Essex and Cheadle in Stoke-on-Trent. In all, there will be around 30 new store openings across the country in 2025.

Aldi is now the fourth-largest supermarket in the country, and it was also crowned the cheapest in 2024 by Which? for the fourth time. Its year-on-year growth has mimicked its popularity, and it now has more than 920 stores in Britain – and it’s not stopping there.

Bosses say they are still searching for freehold town-centre or edge-of-centre sites suitable for property development. It wants sites are big enough to accommodate a 20,000 sq ft store and around 100 dedicated parking spaces, preferably on a prominent main road and with good visibility and access.
