Following a cold but quiet stretch, things are turning active as we reach the end of January in Nova Scotia.
First up, there’s a cold front swinging through Nova Scotia on Tuesday afternoon and evening.
The front is bringing light snowfall of two to five cm for most of the province, however totals of five to 10 centimetres are likely across parts of northern Nova Scotia, including the Annapolis Valley as well as Colchester and Cumberland counties.
Slick, slushy and snowy roads are likely for the Tuesday afternoon drive home and then things will then turn icy overnight as temperatures tumble into Wednesday morning.

The morning commute to work on Wednesday may be icy in spots, especially any untreated roads and surfaces.
Our next system will move in throughout the day on Wednesday, with snow beginning in the morning for western areas and then throughout the afternoon for central and eastern areas of the province.
Most of Nova Scotia can expect snow on the roads and continuing to fall for the commute Wednesday afternoon and evening.

While the bulk of the snow will have departed, we’ll see some lingering flurries and a few more centimetres possible into Thursday morning, especially over eastern areas.

Our active pattern will continue with yet another system looking set to track on Friday. The current timing of the low again looks likely to bring some snow during the afternoon commute.
