Daily US Times: Former President Trump’s former press secretary and first lady Melania Trump’s chief of staff said Trump’s secret visit to Walter Reed hospital in 2019 appeared to be for a routine colonoscopy.
Stephanie Grisham served as chief of staff to Melania Trump, White House press secretary and East Wing communications director during the Trump administration before resigning after the January 6 riot on Capitol Hill. She revealed this in her book named “I’ll Take Your Questions Now”.
In her book, she gives a firsthand account of her time in the White House and describes a culture of lies in the Trump administration.
Grisham does not use the term colonoscopy in the book but heavily implies that’s what the trip was for. Grisham says Donald Trump’s hospital visit, which stirred weeks-long speculation about his health condition, was a “very common procedure,” during which “a patient is put under.”
The former White House official also writes that former President George W. Bush had a similar procedure while in office; Bush had multiple colonoscopies during his time in the White House.
Grisham writes Trump didn’t want Mike Pence, then-Vice President, to be in power while he was sedated, which was part of the reason he kept his visit private. Grisham wrote, Mr Trump also “did not want to be the butt of a joke” on late-night television.
Trump’s Walter Reed visit is just one of several behind-the-scenes revelations by Grisham.
Grisham began working for Donald Trump in 2015, who was a presidential candidate at that time, as a press wrangler on the campaign trail. She entered the White House as deputy press secretary under Sean Spicer, but in March 2017, First Lady Melania Trump hired her for her East Wing staff.
