Daily US Times: Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey announced Wednesday that actor Danny Masterson was charged with three counts of rape. The actor is best known for his role on “That ’70s Show”.

According to information available on the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department website, Danny Masterson was arrested at 11:30 a.m. PT on Wednesday and released shortly before 3 p.m. PT on a $3.3 million bail.

A press release from the District Attorney’s Office said Masterson is charged with forcibly raping three women in separate incidents occurring between 2001 and 2003.

Masterson, who is charged by his full name Daniel Peter Masterson, arraignment is scheduled for September 18. Deputy District Attorney Reinhold Mueller of the Sex Crimes Division is prosecuting the case.

The actor’s attorney Tom Mesereau said in a statement: “Mr. Danny Masterson is innocent, and we’re confident that he will be exonerated when all the evidence finally comes to light and witnesses have the opportunity to testify.”

“Obviously, Mr. Masterson and his wife are in complete shock considering that these nearly 20-year old allegations are suddenly resulting in charges being filed, but they and their family are comforted knowing that ultimately the truth will come out.

The people who know Mr. Masterson know his character and know the allegations to be false,” the statement added.

Masterson is accused of raping a 23-year-old woman between January and December 2001, authorities said and according to the press release, he also allegedly raped a 28-year-old woman in April 2003 and a 23-year-old woman sometime between October and December of that year.

Authorities said all of the alleged crimes took place at Masterson’s Hollywood Hills home.

If convicted, the actor faces a possible sentence of up to 45 years to life in state prison.
