Alison Hammond had This Morning fans saying the same thing after a discussion on age-gap romances.
The presenter who hosts alongside Dermot O’Leary is no stranger to an age-gap relationship. Alison, 50, is currently in a relationship with a 27-year-old, recently admitting that she would “marry him tomorrow” if she had the opportunity. Alison and model David have been an item since 2023 and while she’s previously been tight-lipped about her relationships, it appears that he’s “the one.”
During Friday’s episode of This Morning, the hosts engaged in a conversation surrounding age-gaps when it comes to finding love but fans at home were left amused. “As Bridget Jones finds love on-screen with a younger man, today we’re sharing your age-gap love stories,” Dermot said as he introduced the segment. Alison turned to psychologist Linda Papadopoulos as she asked: “When it comes to massive age relationships, where do you stand on this?”
Dr Linda later added that the “sweet spot” for romances tend to be for relationships is “one to three years.” She added: “Contrary to public opinion, women who are older tend to be happier, especially sexually.”
Following the segment, fans instantly took to social media to share their views. One said: “Alison grinning like a Cheshire Cat throughout this discussion.” A second asked: “Does Alison not want to talk about her age gap between her boyfriend?” Meanwhile, a third went on to tweet: “I love how they’re doing a segment on ‘age gap relationships’ and “Alison Hammond is just sitting there like an audience member! There was clearly a ‘don’t mention my boyfriend is 23 years younger than me’ clause put into that part of the show,” commented another.
Earlier this month, Alison revealed she would marry David “tomorrow” if she could. Speaking earlier this month ahead of her 50th birthday, Alison quipped on the Smart TV podcast: “Oh do you know what? This is going to make headlines but, yeah, I would marry him tomorrow.”
Alison embarked on her relationship with masseuse David in December 2023. They have come under some scrutiny over their 23-year age gap, yet Alison and David have been able to shrug it off. She recently insisted David is “mature and sensible” when she was questioned about her romance last year.
Elsewhere in the episode, some were left baffled after a star went missing from the segment. Celebrity chef Rustie Lee was due to make an appearance, with Alison saying: “Also on the show today, Rustie is back in the kitchen with a fruity muffin. We can’t wait for this.”
But Alison and Dermot became confused, with the former X Factor host asking: “Where as she gone?” as Rustie wasn’t close to the kitchen. Alison clarified that Rustie had stepped away to dispose of some sticks they had used for dancing at the top of the show.
Dermot humorously remarked, “Why did we give her the sticks? We’ve got to keep the puppy in the basket with Rustie. No reason for her to leave at all,” while Alison continued to describe the mouth-watering muffins Rustie would be preparing.
“But listen, let me tell you about her muffins, they’re gorgeous. They’re fruity muffins, they’re absolutely delicious. If we know Rustie, we know that she is going to put every single ingredient possible into these muffins, but they’re going to be beautiful. She is getting rid of the sticks, but these are the muffins and they are absolutely delicious,” Alison assured.
