Daily US Times, Washington: President Donald Trump said if US troops are asked to leave Iraq, he will charge sanction against the country like ‘they have never seen before”.
Trump’s comment came after the Iraqi parliament passed a resolution calling for foreign troops to leave the country. These are a part of the consequences of slaining key Irani General Qasem Soleimani.
The US killed Soleimani on early Friday by drone strike at the outskirt of Baghdad Internation Airport.
What Did Trump Say?
The Iraqi parliament passed the resolution on Sunday. After the resolution passed, Trump told reporters ”We have a very extraordinarily expensive airbase that’s there. It cost billions of dollars to build. We’re not leaving unless they pay us back for it”.
The President was returning Washington by Airforce One. Trump said if Iraq asked US forces to depart on an unfriendly basis, “we will charge them sanctions like they’ve never seen before, ever. It’ll make Iranian sanctions look somewhat tame.”
More than 5,000 US soldiers currently staying in Iraq to fight against the Islamic State (IS) group.

Iran Vowed Severe Revenge
After the US killed Iran’s Quds force leader, tensions between the countries increased to a record high. Iran said they would take severe revenge of the killing. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani warned the Americans have to suffer ‘not only today, but also in coming years’.
A top Irani military adviser said yesterday they would retaliate ‘against US military sites’.
The retaliation already started. Rocket strikes in the green zone of Baghdad’s Green Zone, US embassy was nearby. Another strike took place at a US army base in Kenya, where at least three American citizens were killed.

Esmail Ghaani was named the new chief of Quds Force. “We promise to continue martyr Soleimani’s path with the same force… and the only compensation for us would be to remove America from the region”, he said.
