Daily US Times: US real estate heir Robert Durst has been convicted of killing his best friend Susan Berman. Mr Dust has been the subject of HBO crime documentary The Jinx.
Durst was found guilty of killing Ms Berman in the year of 2000 to stop her talking to police about his wife’s disappearance.
Ms Berman was then aged 55 and was found shot in the head in her Beverly Hills home.
In HBO crime documentary The Jinx’s final part, Durst is heard muttering to himself: “What the hell did I do? Killed them all, of course.”
Hours before the last episode aired, authorities arrested Dust, 78, in New Orleans for Ms Berman’s murder. During the trial, Jurors were played the clip.
Prosecutors called Durst a “narcissistic psychopath”. It now looks likely the millionaire will die in jail.
Susan Berman was a crime writer, and had acted as a spokesperson for Mr Durst when he became a suspect in his wife’s disappearance.
Durst’s lawyer, Dick DeGuerin, objected at an earlier hearing to jurors also being shown clips from All the Good Things, a 2010 film about his marriage starring Kirsten Dunst and Ryan Gosling.
The film was directed by Andrew Jarecki, The Jinx’s filmmaker, and depicts the life of the tycoon, showing him as a murderer.
Durst’s wife Kathleen McCormack, who was a medical student, went missing in 1982 and is presumed dead.
Shortly after Friday’s verdict that convicted Mr Dust, her family issued urged prosecutors in New York’s Westchester County to prosecute Durst.
