Daily US Times: US President has visited his younger brother in a New York City hospital as Mr Trump said his brother Robert Trump is having a “tough time” as he visited him

Mr Trump wore a face mask when entering New York-Presbyterian Hospital on Friday afternoon, staying for about 45 minutes.

US media reports say the 72-year-old Robert Trump is seriously ill, but it is not clear why he was admitted to the facility.

Robert Trump used to manage the Trump property empire’s real-estate investments.

“I hope he’s okay,” Mr Trump told reporters en route to the hospital. “He has a tough time. He’s having a tough time.”

After the hospital visit, Mr Trump flew to his golf club in nearby Bedminster, New Jersey, for the weekend.

“I have a wonderful brother. We’ve had a great relationship for a long time,’ he also told reporters.

“From day one. Long time. And he’s in the hospital right now. Hopefully, he’ll be all right, but he’s having a hard time.”

Recently, Robert Trump went to court in a failed bid to stop publication of his niece Mary Trump’s tell-all book about the president, How My Family Created the World’s Most Dangerous Man.

Ms Trump, who is 55 year old, writes that for her uncle, “nothing is ever enough” and that the US president exhibits all the characteristics of a narcissist. His niece, who has a doctoral degree in clinical psychology, writes of President Trump: “This is far beyond garden-variety narcissism.”

“Donald is not simply weak, his ego is a fragile thing that must be bolstered every moment because he knows deep down that he is nothing of what he claims to be.”

Ms Trump describes in the book how she supplied tax documents to the New York Times, which used them to publish a 14,000 word investigative article into the President’s “dubious tax schemes during the 1990s, including instances of outright fraud, that greatly increased the fortune he received from his parents”.

She said she was approached by journalists at her home in 2017 and was initially reluctant to help.

Robert spent more than a week in the intensive-care unit of Manhattan’s Mount Sinai Hospital in June, according to the New York Post.

Earlier in the day, White House spokesman Judd Deere said: “Yes, he’s been hospitalized,” confirming the hospital visit without specifying Robert’s condition.

President Trump is facing reelection in this November and currently facing severe downfall of popularity in opinion polls.
