Vernon Kay playfully told off Good Morning Britain’s Ed Balls with a “behave yourself,” during a chat about his wife Tess Daly on Wednesday (February 12).
While gracing the ITV morning programme to chat about his latest dance tour, Vernon was quizzed about the much-anticipated celebrity edition of The Traitors – set to be hosted by Tess’ Strictly Come Dancing colleague Claudia Winkleman.
Host Susanna Reid was quick to ask whether Vernon and Tess had been approached by Claudia to perhaps make an appearance.
“Well, it keeps cropping up this Celebrity Traitors. We haven’t been approached, or have we?” Vernon teased.
“You’ve got to be a good liar to be on Celebrity Traitors,” Susanna pointed out, prompting Vernon to respond with a mischievous: “We’re not doing it, or are we? So, we’ll see,” reports the Manchester Evening News.
Ed couldn’t resist asking if Tess could fib convincingly, leading Vernon to share: “She always laughs when she tells a fib, whereas I’m terrible… I think it’d be an interesting psychological experience that, it’s an amazing show.”
The banter reached its peak when Vernon humorously instructed Ed to “behave yourself” after further probing about the show, leaving GMB viewers in stitches.
“@GMB @vernonkay telling @edballs to ‘behave yourself!’ has made my day,” tweeted one fan, while another chimed in: “I like Vernon he’s down to earth.”
A star-studded version of The Traitors UK is expected to hit screens later this year, with names like Rebekah Vardy, Rylan Clark, and Clare Balding topping the list of rumoured participants.
During his interview today, Vernon also opened up about the buzz surrounding him joining I’m a Celeb: All Stars in South Africa, hinting it’s not on the cards as he doesn’t want to tarnish his memories of the main show.
“The thing is, I had such a good time in the castle; I don’t want the experience to be ruined because what you see on air is a stark contrast to what goes on in the castle,” he shared.
“We bonded really tightly. We had really powerful women in our group, and I think that was something that the I’m a Celeb people learned. We had amazing people with amazing stories to tell, and we sat and listened – it’s a really powerful trait to have to be able to listen to other people’s stories.”
Wrapping up, he said: “It was a joyous experience and I don’t want that to be pushed to one side for something else,” but with a chuckle added: “Well, you never know. We’ve all got to keep the central heating on, Susanna.”
