Watch as officers run into burning hotel screaming ‘come to my voice’ to save tourists

This was the moment a brave police officer screamed “come to my voice” as he tried to save guests inside a hotel fire which left 12 in hospital.

A total of 20 people were trapped inside the five-storey building in Euston, London, in the early hours of Saturday morning. Brave firefighters ran into the building to save the terrified tourists trapped inside.

Police officers who were first on the scene meanwhile ran into the basement freeing people stuck or left disorientated due to the thick smoke. Arriving at the scene, emergency responders were met with thick, impenetrable smoke which had already spread throughout the entire basement level.

Already spreading to the floors above, crews acted fast to get everyone out. A total of nine police offices and three others needed to go to hospital after the terrifying blaze.

Police Sergeant Pete Day, from the Metropolitan Police, used extinguishers to tackle the fire, while Police Constable Luke Uzzell forced his way into rooms in the smoke-filled basement to ensure nobody was trapped.

Footage shows PC Uzzell screaming “come to my voice” as shocked guests ran for their lives. In another clip, he can be seen hammering on doors yelling, “police” and “everyone out” as he tried to evacuate the building.

Commander Peter Stevens said: “Each and every day Met officers put their lives in danger in order to protect the public and keep the communities they serve safe. The actions of these officers were outstanding and exemplify the very best of the Met.

“Without a thought for their own safety, they stepped into danger and showed exemplary courage. I’m thankful that nobody was seriously injured and this is no doubt due to the heroic actions of our brave officers.”

All 12 hospitalised had luckily only minor injuries from smoke inhalation. They have all since been discharged.
