Woman found dead with horror injuries after being ‘assaulted’ in her own home

A keen horsewoman has been found battered to death in her own home.

Two men have been taken into custody suspected of the murder of Leanne Williams, 47, after her lifeless body was found with “significant injuries” at her home in Townhill, Swansea.

Cops are busy trying to piece together her last known movements in a bid to solve the killing. The force said a post-mortem had identified “significant injuries consistent with an assault”.

Det Supt Mark O’Shea said the “tragic news is a shock to the community”. Leanne was often seen out with her horse and pet dog in the local area.

South Wales Police officers were called to the property on Gomer Road in Townhill, Swansea, on 27 February at 14:00 GMT, reports Wales Online. The force has confirmed that the woman was 47-year-old Leanne Williams. Two men have been arrested as part of the investigation and are currently in police custody.

“We are piecing together Leanne’s last known movements from 6pm on Monday, February 24, to 2.20pm the following Thursday when she was found by officers,” he added.

He said the police are not looking for anyone else in connection with this matter at this time. A police cordon remains in place at the address on Gomer Road on the estate overlooking the Welsh city.

Det Supt O’Shea said: “Anyone who lives in or who has travelled through Gomer Road or surrounding areas during this time are asked to check their private CCTV or dashcam footage for anything that may be relevant. It doesn’t matter how insignificant it may seem.

“We particularly want to hear from people who knew Leanne and who have not yet spoken with officers. The community will have noticed police activity in the area and this is to reassure residents who we know are concerned and to speak to them to see if they have information which may assist us.”
