People are only just realising they’ve been wearing their dressing gowns wrong after a style influencer shared a clever hack that stops the gown from slipping down.
As we’re in the middle of the cold winter months, people will have gotten more use out of their dressing gowns in order to keep warm without having to put the heating on.
However, if you’re an avid dressing gown wearer, you might have noticed that the front of the dressing gown will often need readjusting and tightening in order to make sure your chest stays covered up.
One influencer, known across multiple social media platforms as SweaStyle, shared a clever hack that will help make sure your dressing gown stays on without slipping down, and all you have to do is rethink the way you tie it.
“Stop using your bath robe like this,” she said, tying the string around her waist like it’s normally tied. “You know how it opens up – it’s not supposed to do that.”
The influencer, who boasts over 1.1 million followers on TikTok, shows the camera how the gown immediately gets looser around her chest, showing more of the clothes she’s wearing underneath it. However, there’s a simple way to stop this from happening.
“Instead, take the band and insert it like normal,” she said, as she pulled the band through the loop on her left side before pulling the other side of the band over her waist rather than behind her back.
“Then from the front, pull it through on the other side,” she explained. “Take the sides [of the bands] and pull towards the front. Make a knot, add a bow.”
She showed how, instead of pulling the band around her body, she made sure to tighten around her tummy only before tying it. “Now it literally won’t open,” she told her viewers.
However, even though the video has gained over 25,000 likes, people weren’t impressed with the hack, as a lot of viewers claimed it made no difference how they tied it if they were just going to wear it while staying at home.
“It’s about comfort, not fashion,” one person commented, to which a second user added: “Like I’m at home. Why should I care if my robe opens ever so slightly in the front?”
A third said: “But I only walk from downstairs to upstairs through the house and I’ll take it off. I have no energy for that.” However, others made sure to thank the influencer for the simple hack, saying they’ll change the way they will secure their dressing gowns from now on.
